Scott E. Hughes, DPMDr. Scott E. Hughes earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree in 1991 from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. He was employed by a large group practice in northern Michigan, and opened an office in Midland for them in 1993. In 1995 Dr. Hughes decided to move to the Monroe area and open his own practice. The first office of Foot & Ankle Specialists, P.C. was located north of Monroe at 7521 Telegraph Road. In 2001, Dr. Hughes had the new office built in the Delisle Center at 1060 N. Monroe St. The first satellite office was opened in 1997 at 7924 Secor Rd. in Lambertville which moved to its current location at the corner of Summerfield and Secor Rd. in 2004.

Dr. Hughes is a member of many organizations and serves on several boards and committees. He is a member of the Monroe Rotary Club and has sat on the Board of Directors, has been the Youth Exchange Officer and Chairman of the International Service Committee. He served as the club's president for the 2002-03 year. He also serves in several capacities for the Michigan Podiatric Medical Association. He was President of the MPMA from 2012 - 2014 and served on the Board of Directors from 2007 - 2016. He also served on the Blue Cross Blue Shield Liaison Committee and was Chairman of the Legislative Committee from 1999 until he became president in 2012. Dr. Hughes was appointed by Governor Granholm to the Licensing Board for Podiatric Medicine and Surgery in 2007 and was re-appointed by Governor Snyder for 2012 - 2015. He has served on several committees for the APMA, including the Private Insurance Advisory Committee, the Health Policy Committee and became the Chairman of the Center for Professional Advocacy in 2015.

At the 2017 House of Delegates he was elected to the American Podiatric Medical Association Board of Trustees.

Dr. Hughes is Board Certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle surgery. He is also a Fellow of the American Society of Podiatric Surgeons and the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgery. He is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association, the Michigan Podiatric Medical Association and the American Public Health Association. Dr. Hughes has hospital privileges at Promedica Monroe Regional Hospital as a member of the department of surgery and also at the Surgical Institute of Monroe.

Dr. Hughes was born and raised in Cleveland, OH. He served in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Germany in 1977-79. He is married and lives with his wife Kari in Monroe. They have 5 children. Dr. Hughes loves the outdoors and looks forward to taking his sons on snowmobiling and river rafting trips every year. He enjoys traveling and has been to Europe, Asia and South America, and has been to every state in the U.S. He loves long motorcycle trips and has ridden Route 66 to the Santa Monica Pier in California. He also enjoys golf, racquetball, the Warrior Dash, chess, public speaking, and reading non-fiction- especially philosophy and biographies. He began a new hobby with the 2002 introduction of The Dr. Scott Hughes Show on public access TV in Monroe.
