Summer Exercises for Your Feet

The warm weather has finally arrived and it’s a great time to get outdoors and take advantage of the sunny days. However, outdoor activities can be strenuous on your feet. Don’t worry though, there are simple exercises to keep your feet limber and healthy to make the most of the season.

Speak to an experienced podiatrist before attempting any of these exercises. If you are experiencing any foot pain, or if you suffer from arthritis or diabetes, talk it over with your doctor first.

Marble Pick-Up

This exercise can help strengthen the muscles in your feet and toes.
  • Sit straight in a chair with your feet on the ground.
  • Place several marbles and a cup near your feet.
  • Use your toes to pick up a marble and drop it in the cup.

Towel Grab

This exercise can strengthen the muscles in your toes and feet.
  • Sit with your back straight and your feet on the ground.
  • Place a towel on the floor beside your feet.
  • Use your toes to grab the towel and pull it towards you.
  • You can also add heavy objects to add weight to the towel to get a better workout.

Tennis Ball Roll

This exercise will massage your feet and help with circulation.
  • Sit with your back straight in a chair and your feet flat on the ground.
  • Place a tennis ball on the floor near your feet.
  • Roll the tennis ball about with the soles of your feet.
